SystmOne

SystmOne is a clinical software system developed by TPP (The Phoenix Partnership), widely used across the NHS in the UK. It’s an integrated electronic patient record (EPR) system that allows healthcare professionals — including GPs, nurses, and other clinicians — to securely access and manage patient records in real time.

Course Descriptions - SystmOne

This session provides a foundational overview of SystmOne. It includes logging in via smartcard or manual access, navigating the home screen, and effectively searching for and managing patient records. Users are introduced to key areas within the patient record, including demographics, alerts, clinical and administrative trees, summaries, journals, medications, prescriptions, investigations, and communications. 

 The session also covers working with multiple records, updating patient details (including SMS verification), record sharing, and managing appointments, visits, and tasks. Guidance is provided on internal communications such as tasks, notifications, and instant messaging, alongside best practice for saving, discarding, locking, and safely exiting the system. 

The training covers the core appointment and reception functions within SystmOne, including use of the Appointment Overview and Ledger, rota views with filtering options, and appointment search for both booked and historical activity. It introduces the Free Slot Search tool and rota printing to support appointment planning. Users are guided through booking and amending appointments, including adjusting duration, setting options, and sending patient confirmations. The session also covers use of the Patient Call Board. 

This course provides a practical introduction to supporting staff to confidently locate, register, and maintain patient records. It covers understanding patient registration colours, using quick patient search and advanced search options, and the different registration scenarios, including patients who are previously registered, not previously registered with the unit but with an existing Spine record, and firsttime registrations. How to add or update patient details accurately and outlines the use of record restrictions to ensure sensitive information is handled appropriately and patient confidentiality is maintained. 

This course is designed to help users understand how to access, create, and manage reports to support clinical and operational needs. It explains the purpose and structure of SystmOne reporting, how to locate and run audit and inbuilt system reports, and how to navigate and understand the clinical reporting screen. The course also covers creating clinical reports, breaking down and joining report results, viewing report information and history, and using report maintenance features, as well as performing actions on multiple patient records safely and efficiently. 

This course provides GPs with practical training on consultations in SystmOne. It covers navigating the patient record and key nodes, accessing clinics via the appointment screen, and starting and recording consultations, including numerics and privacy levels for individual consultations. The course also includes the use of autoconsultations, recording information through clinical templates, vaccinations and allergies, printing consultation summaries, and viewing historic pathology reports. In addition, it supports learners to manage recalls, utilise Clinical Tools and CKS, and confidently amend records, including marking entries in error and making appropriate corrections or deletions. 

This course provides Nurses and Healthcare Assistants with practical training on consultations in SystmOne. It covers navigating the patient record and key nodes, accessing clinics via the appointment screen, and starting and recording consultations, including recording numeric and using auto consultations. The course also explains how to record information using clinical templates, document vaccinations and allergies, print consultation summaries, and view historic pathology reports. In addition, learners will be supported to add and manage recalls and confidently amend patient records, including marking entries in error and making appropriate corrections or deletions. 

This course provides practical training on supporting clinicians to manage medications. It covers issuing acute and repeat prescriptions, issuing medication using the Print Issue Screen, answering prescription queries, and performing medication reviews. The course also includes an overview of Electronic Prescribing and explains how to accurately record sensitivities and allergies to ensure safe prescribing and patient care. 

This course covers using the Medication node to manage acute and repeat items, applying filters and views, handling medication requests, and working with Repeat Templates and the Repeat Prescribing screen. The course also explains issuing, cancelling, and futuredating prescriptions, using the Print Issues screen, managing repeat dispensing, reviewing prescription history, searching prescriptions, and using EPS options, including adding or amending nominations, searching for nominations, and managing oneoff nominations. 

This course provides an introduction to summarising and clinical coding in SystmOne, It covers Patient Home Maintenance, use of Problem Headers, the Summary and Family History node, and awareness of SNOMED and CTV3 coding, including code flags and the Read Code Browser. Learners will develop skills in adding and amending coded information, understanding episodicity, recording vaccinations, sensitivities and allergies, and adding other and hospital medications.  

The course also includes marking entries in error, coding documents, and processing document updates to ensure records remain accurate, up to date, and clinically safe.

EMIS Web is a clinical information system widely used across NHS primary care settings in the UK. It serves as an electronic patient record (EPR) platform that allows GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage patient data, consultations, prescriptions, and referrals in one integrated system.

Course Descriptions - EMIS Web

This course provides an introduction to EMIS it covers navigating and customising the EMIS Home Screen, searching for patient records, and understanding how to move around a patient record, including the Summary, Consultations, Medication, Problems, Investigations, Care History, Diary, Documents and Referrals sections. The course also includes an overview of the Workflow Manager, helping users understand how tasks and actions are managed within EMIS to support efficient daytoday workflows. 

This course provides practical training covers accessing the appointment book, configuring user settings, navigating the appointment screen and its functions, and booking, cancelling, and moving appointments. Learners will also be shown how to search for free appointments, find patientbooked appointments, merge and unmerge slots, and change slot properties to support efficient and flexible appointment management. 

This course provides practical training on EMIS Searches and Reports, helping users understand the difference between searches and reports, build simple one and tworule searches, and create more advanced searches by using other searches as a parent. It explores the range of search criteria available and shows how to produce reports from searches, then manipulate and present report outputs. 

This course covers navigating the Consultations screens and locating key information, starting a consultation and understanding the different consultation types, and entering coded and numeric data. Learners will also be shown how to record information using templates, set appropriate privacy levels, add a drug where applicable, and create documents during a consultation to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant patient records. Upon request, N3i can also include a demonstration on how to prescribe as part of consultation. 

This course provides a practical overview of the Medication screen in EMIS. It covers navigating the medication screen and configuring user settings, issuing, cancelling and altering medication quantities, and changing the issue type of prescriptions. Learners will also be shown how to find prescription history, postdate prescriptions, and accurately maintain medication records to support safe and effective prescribing.
